Why Permissions Matter
Mitsuki needs specific permissions to function properly. Without the right permissions, some features may not work or you'll see error messages.
Required Permissions by Feature
Basic Functionality
- View Channels - See channels to respond to commands
- Send Messages - Reply to commands and send notifications
- Embed Links - Display rich embeds with information
- Add Reactions - React to messages for confirmations
Moderation Features
- Manage Messages - Delete messages, clear chat
- Kick Members - Kick users from the server
- Ban Members - Ban/unban users
- Manage Roles - Assign/remove roles (mute, etc.)
Music & Voice
- Connect - Join voice channels
- Speak - Play audio in voice channels
- Use Voice Activity - Transmit audio
Setting Up the Role
Open Server Settings
Click on your server name at the top left, then select Server Settings from the dropdown.
Go to Roles
In the left sidebar, click on Roles. Find the "Mitsuki" role in the list.
Move the Role Up
Drag Mitsuki's role above any roles you want Mitsuki to manage. Mitsuki can only manage roles that are below its own role.
Enable Permissions
Click on Mitsuki's role and scroll through the permissions. Enable the ones needed for the features you want to use.
For full functionality, we recommend enabling Administrator - but only if you trust the bot.
Troubleshooting
Common permission issues and how to fix them:
- "Missing Permissions" - Check that Mitsuki has the required permission for that feature
- "Cannot manage this role" - Move Mitsuki's role higher in the hierarchy
- Bot not responding - Verify Mitsuki can view and send messages in the channel
